Sound Designer

Sound Designers devise and create soundtracks for the music, theatre, film and television industries. They work closely with cast members, directors and bands to manipulate audio elements to achieve a desired effect. They may assist in recording and analysing acoustics, and direct speaker set-up.

Music Producer

Music Producers coach and guide musicians through recording sessions. They supervise recording and mixing and organise and produce a budget for productions/performances.

Musicologist

Musicologists study music. They are usually musicians with training in the skills required to interpret musical history and style. To progress in this occupation, further study in a degree course may be advisable.

Music Business Managers organise and book performances, develop and promote acts and negotiate deals for their client/s. They develop and maintain strong relationships with industry and use marketing skills to plan tours and other major events.

Music Distributors handle the production process for all releases through a record company. This includes working on artist development, delivering advance releases to media outlets and creating promotional exposure for new and recurring artists by events organized through the music label.

Conductors direct instrumental groups such as symphony orchestras and large bands. They control factors such as balance, rhythm, dynamics and timing to create an effect consistent with their own interpretation of the score. They ensure the cast knows the music thoroughly, and supervise the musical interpretation of the performers.
