Livestock Farm Worker

Large feedlots may employ specific Livestock Farm Workers. They work on the agricultural production land linked to the feedlot which may involve tasks ranging from livestock handling, cropping, fencing, irrigation as well as energy and environmental management.

Feedlot Maintenance Worker

Feedlot Maintenance Workers are employed in a commercial feedlot. They perform the daily upkeep and maintenance of the entire feedlot. This can involve vehicle and equipment maintenance, and improvements to pens, laneways and infrastructure. They check the water and energy supplies within the feedlot, and clean effluent areas of the intensive production facility.

Feedlot Administration Worker

Feedlot Administration Workers are employed in a commercial feedlot where they setup and maintain employee and livestock production records. They process and record livestock data according to feedlot quality assurance requirements. They process invoices, coordinate orders and deliveries and perform general office duties.

Feedlot Pen Rider

Feedlot Pen Riders work in a commercial feedlot where they identify and draft livestock, implement animal health control and feeding plans. They monitor animals in intensive production systems and monitor pen condition and ration suitability within the feedlot enterprise.

Feedlot Hand / Livestock Hand / Pen Rider / Pen Walker

Livestock / Feedlot Hands monitor animals in intensive production systems, they induct new animals into the feedlot and monitor pen condition and ration suitability within the feedlot. Livestock / Feedlot hands identify and draft livestock, record data, and carry out vaccination, weighing and tagging livestock. Livestock / Feedlot hands may walk or ride the pens to oversee animal health. They assess, treat and care for livestock with poor health until they recover and can return to their home pen.
