This qualification describes the skills and knowledge for trade level roles in the parks and gardens industry including gardener, greenkeeper and groundsperson.
Individuals with this qualification perform tasks under broad supervision involving a broad range of skills that are applied in a wide variety of contexts, which will involve discretion and judgement in selecting and operating equipment, coordinating resources and applying contingency measures during work.
Work must comply with work health and safety and environmental regulations and legislation that apply to the workplace.

Career Outcomes
Groundsperson
A groundsperson undertakes turf maintenance and establishment activities. They construct and cultivate turf surfaces, install irrigation systems, and control pests and weeds. They may work on sports fields, school sports grounds and race tracks.
Gardener
Gardeners plant and care for trees, lawns, shrubs and flower beds in areas around public and private institutions, city squares, parks, gardens, sports grounds and private homes. They maintain structures and irrigation systems and treat weeds, pests and diseases. They work under limited supervision.
Parks and Gardens Tradesperson
Parks and Gardens Tradespeople plant and maintain lawns, trees, shrubs and flowerbeds in gardens and parks. Duties include installing plant displays, cultivating turf, installing irrigation and drainage, and controlling pests and diseases.
Greenkeeper
Greenkeepers undertake turf maintenance and establishment activities. They construct and cultivate turf surfaces, install irrigation systems, and control pests and weeds. They may work on golf courses, bowling greens and in parks.
