Peer mentor

Peer mentors use their specific experience to mentor and support others new to that experience.

Advocacy Worker

Advocacy Workers are employed in services that provide relationship support and interventions for families and/or couples. These could typically include family relationship support programs, telephone advice, and family mediation and counselling services. Advocacy workers may organise initial intake, as well as provide information, referrals, or advocacy.

Peer Education Officer

Peer Education Officers prepare and present information to their peer group to assist them in making healthy lifestyle choices.

Carer

Carers provide general household assistance, emotional support, care and companionship, either in the home or within a residential facility, for people who are aged or those who have a disability.

Youth peer worker

Workers provide peer support interventions to youth in a community services or health setting.

Consumer consultant

Consumer consultants represent the interests of consumers and advocate for their needs.

Carer consultant

Carer consultants represent the interests of consumers and advocate for their needs.

Aboriginal peer worker

Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander workers draw from own experiences and culture to provide peer support interventions to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander individuals in their community.

Mental Health Peer Worker

Mental Health Peer Workers have lived experience of mental health problems as either a consumer or carer and work in mental health services in roles that support consumer peers or carer peers. They are employed within the mental health sector in government, public, private or community managed services.

Family advocate

Family advocate workers assist families to access services and supports in a range of contexts.

Consumer representative

A consumer representative might be a member of a government, professional body, industry or non-governmental organisation committee who works on behalf of consumers to voice consumer perspectives and takes part in the decision-making process.
