They may be involved in textile research and development, textiles product development, computer aided design and manufacturing technologies, textile product design, colour coordination, logistics management, production management or quality assurance design.

Clothing Patternmakers draw sets of master patterns according to design sketches, take samples of materials, create design specifications, and cut out patterns for garments. They work closely with designers, interpreting their sketches to develop products that can be produced by the organisation.

They liaise with sample developers and patternmakers, assist in garment quality control and follow through with the approval of amendments and alterations, thus ensuring that production is delivered on time.

Textile Designers produce designs for printed, woven or knitted textiles, as well as many patterned surfaces. They may work within and alongside industries such as fashion, automotive, interior design and technical textiles.

Textiles Design Assistants help Textile Designers with the development of textile and clothing designs. They may research product trends, create drawings using computer based design programs and develop product specifications and samples.

Dyehouse Supervisor

Dyehouse Supervisors oversee and coordinate activities of workers who bleach, dye, and tan textiles. They prepare bleaching, dyeing, and tanning solutions according to specified a formula, and examine processed textiles, reporting irregularities in the process to the chemist and management.
